There are currently 2 SVN branches, one is "stable" (considered stable, development stopped July 2010), while the other branch is "wip" (work in progress, on the bleeding edge)

Linux, MacOSX & MorphOS naming scheme:
- fteqw.gl32 = Full OpenGL 32bit client
- fteqw.gl64 = Full OpenGL 64bit client
- fteqw.mingl32 = Minimal OpenGL 32bit client
- fteqw.mingl64 = Minimal OpenGL 64bit client
- fteqw.sv32 = Dedicated 32bit server
- fteqw.sv64 = Dedicated 64bit server
- fteqw_sdl.xx32 = SDL 32bit version (versus native)
Linux 32bit has 4 alternate compilers, while 64bit has 2:
- xxx (no extension) = Compiled with GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) 4.3.2
- xxx.clang = Compiled with clang version 1
- xxx.icc = Compiled with Intel C++ Compiler (ICC, best used with Intel CPUs)
- xxx.llvm = Compiled with Low Level Virtual Machine (LLVM) 4.2.1
Windows naming scheme:
- fteglqw.exe = Full OpenGL 32bit client
- fteminglqw.exe = Minimal OpenGL 32bit client
- fteqwsv.exe = Dedicated 32bit server
- fteqw_sdl_xxx.exe = SDL 32bit version (versus native)
- npqtv.dll = Firefox OpenGL 32bit browser plugin

- The FTE Server supports NetQuake, QuakeWorld, Quake 2 & Quake 3: Arena
- Based apon the Quake & QuakeWorld source code, with source code extracts from other QuakeWorld clients such as ZQuake & FuhQuake. While also containing technology from both Quake II & Quake III Arena.
